Our process is built around connection. Every client begins with a detailed questionnaire that helps us understand their daily routine, living situation, preferences, and what they are looking for in a companion. From there, we work directly with shelters and pet stores across Connecticut to identify animals that align with those needs– creating thoughtful matches that last.
Hi, I’m Spencer Durand, the founder of PetMatch LLC! I live here in Connecticut, and I’ve spent my whole life loving animals and wanting to help them find the forever homes they deserve. Growing up, I was always surrounded by pets—including a beloved family bird who has been with us for over a decade! Over time, that bond turned into a deep commitment to animal welfare. I started spending my free time volunteering at local adoption fairs and helping out with Humane Society fundraisers in New Hampshire where I grew up.
The real turning point for me happened when a close family member had to make the incredibly difficult decision to rehome their dog. They loved this dog deeply, but it became clear that their lifestyle and the dog’s needs were not the correct match to give this dog the life he deserved. Witnessing the heartbreak and guilt that came with that decision completely changed my perspective. I realized just how many amazing animals end up surrendered or waiting in shelters, while so many well-meaning adopters simply don’t know where to begin— or how to choose a pet that truly complements their lifestyle.
I created PetMatch to bridge that gap. My goal is to make the entire adoption journey feel more guided, informative, deeply personal, and stress-free. Every recommendation I make is centered around finding the best possible match for both the adopter and the pet. To me, this isn’t just about matching a person with a pet— it’s about helping you build a loving, lifelong bond that brings joy, companionship, and unforgettable memories to your home.
