About Us

At PetMatch, we believe that finding a pet shouldn’t feel overwhelming– it should feel exciting, meaningful, and well-suited to your lifestyle.

PetMatch was created with one simple idea in mind: the ideal pet match is about more than appearance or impulse. It’s about compatibility, lifestyle, and long-term wellbeing for both people and animals. Too often, potential adopters feel unsure where to start, while great pets wait longer than they should for the right home. We’re here to change that.

Our process is built around connection. Every client begins with a detailed questionnaire that helps us understand their daily routine, living situation, preferences, and what they are looking for in a companion. From there, we work directly with shelters and pet stores across Connecticut to identify animals that align with those needs– creating thoughtful matches that last.

Pet Match Commitment

At PetMatch, we believe that finding a pet shouldn’t feel overwhelming — it should feel exciting, meaningful, and well-suited to your lifestyle. Our Mission

Our mission is simple: Connecting Hearts, Homes, and Pets. We are dedicated to making pet adoption more intentional, personal, and successful. By bridging the gap between adopters and local animal organizations– we aim to reduce uncertainty, improve adoption outcomes, and help more pets find safe, loving homes where they truly belong. At PetMatch, we don’t just introduce people to pets– we facilitate meaningful, lifelong connections.

About the Founder

PetMatch was founded by Spencer Durand, a Connecticut resident with a lifelong love for animals and a passion for helping them find the right homes.

Growing up, he was always around animals, including a bird that has been a part of his family for years. Over time, that connection grew into a stronger commitment to animal welfare, including volunteering at local adoption fairs and humane society fundraisers.

After a family member had to rehome a dog, he saw the guilt and heartbreak that goes along with it. Through that experience, he became increasingly aware of how many animals were being surrendered or waiting in shelters, while many adopters struggled to know where to start. PetMatch was created to bridge that gap– by making the adoption process more guided, educational, and personal.

For Spencer, it’s not just about bringing people and animals together– it’s about helping create lasting and loving homes that last a lifetime.
